Meet The Team
Brett Welte
I'm Brett Welte, cohost of Outsiders Podcast. I'm a husband, a father, and a lifelong student of theology, passionate about connecting deep biblical truths to everyday life. I hold a Master of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and have spent years serving in ministry, teaching, and the business world. On the podcast, I aim to bring a thoughtful and grounded voice to conversations about faith and culture. Off the mic, you’ll usually find me with my family, reading, or exploring Scripture and church history.
Branden Woodall
Follower of the way of Jesus.
Husband to Bethany, father to Gideon, Elijah, and Zipporah.
Founder of Outsiders Podcast, aspiring writer, musician, and podcaster.
“Branden showed me the French inside of me, then immediately revoked it. I have never felt more culturally unstable.”

My mind is a wellspring of terribly useless but often interesting facts. Can I recall them when they may be of use? No. Can they be deleted or displaced in favor of more crucial and necessary information? Also no. And yet, I carry on—a walking stack of coping mechanisms for unmedicated and untreated ADHD. But enough about that, let’s begin.
George Washington, Winston Churchill, Dwight Eisenhower, Abraham Lincoln, Andrew McKinley. Five completely random names, one of which, coincidentally, is mine. It has been said that some are born great, while others have greatness thrust upon them. However, it seems no one is thrusting their greatness upon me. But enough about that, let’s begin.
I rose to power in the fall of 1985, having cast off the shackles of the umbilical. At that time, still quite young for my age, I was born. Shortly thereafter, I was informed that infants cannot conquer the world, and so I didn’t. I’d been a rule follower my entire life up til then, after all. But enough about that, let’s begin.
These days, I manage and operate a single-household family, alongside my wife, Brittany, and our two daughters. In a house full of women, I find it necessary to overmasculate things, just to maintain the balance. This is why I drive two cars at once and always take my tacos without lettuce. But enough about that, let’s begin.
I was brought onto the Outsiders team because I quote memes and movies so quickly that people think I’m actually funny. I also read my Bible regularly, which makes me a prime candidate for a podcast about theology. But that’s enough about that…
Let’s begin.
In all seriousness, I love the Lord, my wife and girls, I love these guys that I do this podcast with, and I love worshipping, whether leading my fellow brothers and sisters with music or just doing my normal day to the glory of God. Thank you for coming to check us out, thanks for listening, and we love you.

I love God. The rest are details of God's grace and blessings. I am married with 5 kids, 9 grandkids, and 3 great-grandkids. I was raised in church, but at 14, I got a job and worked on Sundays. God and the church held no relevant place in my life, so I did not return.
Fourteen years later, I was struggling and decided to look for answers in the Bible. It was in those pages that I found Christ.
Naturally, the Bible is a cornerstone in my walk with Christ. No one was around to tell me how to live out a surrendered life, but I knew one thing: people needed to know about Jesus. My life was on a new path—not one I chose, but one God placed me on.
I worked for two decades in food service. My ministry started in the kitchen of a restaurant. I have been involved with Youth for Christ for over 30 years, sit on the board of a pro-life pregnancy center, help coach softball, work part-time at a local youth shelter, and volunteer at the local juvenile detention center.
I am very competitive, and I love camping and riding my bike.

I’m a husband to a wonderful and beautiful woman (way out of my league, if we’re being honest), a dad of three wild and wonderful kids, a friend to some truly amazing people, and—above all else—a follower of Jesus. Without the Lord, my life would be a train wreck (and not the fun kind with cool explosions). Day-to-day life with Him gives everything meaning, direction, and the kind of peace that doesn’t make sense on paper but makes all the difference in the real world.
I’ve got a thing for documentaries, random trivia, and knowing just enough about a lot of things to sound smart—until someone asks a follow-up question. Whether it’s tech, sound gear, or obscure audio hacks, I’m all in. I love learning, even if it’s mostly just so I can say, “Hey, did you know…” at the most unnecessary moments.
In my spare time, you’ll usually find me behind a drum kit, running sound, or doing something in the world of IT—because yes, I’m also a giant nerd and proud of it. I’m passionate about getting things to sound just right, whether it’s music, podcasts, or Sunday mornings at church, and I love solving problems most people don’t even know exist.
At the end of the day, I’m just a guy trying to live faithfully, love well, laugh often, and maybe learn a few new things along the way. Also, if there’s pizza involved, I’ll probably be there.
